Lots of sand eels at jones beach piers. Some people throwing clam for a shot of fish, but no takers yet ! Water temperatures are unusually warm in the 50 degree range. Two anglers tried for catch & release flounder action for three days with no bites. Night fishing permit is in effect April 1st at jones beach State Park, that's when anglers fish under the lights for early spring squid, and herring, that are always first to arrive at these piers at night. Some seasons there's early run of SHAD & bluefish in April here at jones beach state park piers ! With water temps rising quickly, it's worth trying for shad & blues under the pier lights. Night fishing permit sales end April 30th, I think. So go get yours to enjoy quiet and safe night fishing at New York State Parks this season !
